"Paint the Town Blues" January 19

Blues U. and the Mayor's Office of Special Events invite blues fans to "Paint the Town" on Saturday, January 19, with the Winter Delights Festival Chicago Blues Tour (TM). One ticket ($25) includes admission to 5 clubs featuring live blues, as well as shuttle bus transportation between them, and a pre-tour live blues party with the Rockin' Johnny Band featuring Taildragger. At press time, participating clubs included Checkerboard Lounge, 423 E. 43rd, Hothouse, 31 E. Balbo, Bonanza Lounge, 552 E. 47th, Rosa's Lounge, 3420 W. Armitage, and New Apartment Lounge, 504 E. 75th St. One or two more clubs may be confirmed before the tour date. Shuttle buses run on interconnecting one-hour routes, and ticketholders may transfer between routes at any club. Maps and schedules of bus departure times form each location are distributed on tour night and posted on the web in advance. Buses will begin rolling at 8:15 p.m. and continue until last call, between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. depending on the club. Advance discounts, group discounts, and member discounts are available through the website as well. Advance tickets are strongly recommended, although a limited number of tickets will be available on tour night at the clubs. Doors open for ticketholder check-in at 7 p.m. at Hothouse, with live blues provided by Rockin' Johnny and Taildragger, as well as an 8 p.m. raffle of cool blues stuff.
