Blues University's On-Line
Archiving Project
We will issue a Blues U. trial
Alumni membership card to anyone who submits a
qualifying archive entry. You can save this
template
file and fill it in to save yourself time. When you have filled
it in, email it to archives@bluesu.com, and after we have reviewed
and approved it, you'll receive an email with the details on your
Alumni membership card. Please sign your name at the bottom of the
bio, we want to give credit where it is due, and also you may include
an email link if you wish to be contacted as a research resource for
ongoing film or book projects, or just to help people who are
interested in the person whom you have biographied.
The 3 general guidelines are as follows:
- You must submit a biographical outline of a blues performer
(living or deceased) or historical figure (e.g., record
producers/club owners and writers are acceptable), including a
brief biography of his/her contibrution to musical history or
culture, in approximately 250 words, including references to
mentors (people who taught them or influenced them) and "proteges"
(people whom they influenced or taught). Please include
hyperlinks of other web pages which detail more information about
the performer.
- If there are books or recordings that best exemplify their
talent, please include those as well in a bibliographical
reference at the end of the biography. You may also include a
reference to your home page, as part of your signature at the end
of the document. An example is given here. Please reference
the index page of the archive
before submitting a biographical outline, but feel free to submit
a duplicate biography if you feel the outline provided is
insufficient or incomplete. Rock and pop stars are acceptable and
welcomed as topics, if you can present a compelling argument for
their link to the blues tradition. You may want to review a few
of the accepted bios in the index as examples.
- All submissions are subject to approval by Blues University,
and may be edited for clarity or length before posting to the
archive. Upon posting, Blues U. will email to the submitter a
temporary Blues U. Alumni Card which will be subject to all
restrictions as designated by the issuer.
